Walt Disney World - Guide to Walt Disney World Park Tickets

There is a lot that goes into planning a Walt Disney World Vacation and your theme park tickets are one of the most important components to your trip!

One may wonder why thinking about your park tickets in advance is so important and there are a few reasons why. When you go to your local amusement park you can show up and purchase your tickets before you walk in, this is the case at Walt Disney World as well; however, if you are visiting for more than one day, we highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.

Most guests stay at a Walt Disney World Resort or a nearby hotel and intend on visiting the theme parks for more than one day. There are four Disney theme parks and two water parks, so there is a lot of ground to cover. We are going to breakdown the 3 different ticket options available for purchase so you can make the best decision for your next visit to the Walt Disney World Resort.

To start, Disney World offers two ticket categories according to age level: ages 10 and older and ages 3 to 9. Admission is free for children under the age of 3.

1 Park Per Day

The standard, most basic ticket, 1 Park Per Day is self-explanatory. The ticket allows the guest to visit one of Disney World’s four theme parks in a single day. They are available in denominations of one day up to 10 days. The four parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The more days you purchase, the lower the cost per day. Significant savings don’t kick in until five days or more. For example, the lowest price for a one-day ticket is $109. But the per-day price drops to $88 for a five-day ticket and that savings continues to increase as you add more days.

Be aware that once you choose the first day of any multi-day ticket, you will have a limited amount of time to use or lose your tickets. However, you do not have to visit the parks on consecutive days.

*NOTE: that park tickets are non-transferable, so be sure that each member of your party has his or her own ticket.

Water Park and Sports Option

You can upgrade your 1 Park Per Day ticket and get a Water Park and Sports Option ticket. In addition to being able to visit one theme park per day, you can also visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, the 9-hole Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (which also offers a FootGolf experience), and Disney’s two mini-golf courses. The number of visits to these additional attractions is based on the number of days purchased for the 1 Park Per Day ticket. For example, a four-day ticket includes four visits.

Park Hopper Option

With the Park Hopper Option, you can visit multiple parks each day. For instance, you could go to Disney's Animal Kingdom in the early morning, the Magic Kingdom in the middle of the day, and finish off the evening at Disney's Hollywood Studios. No matter the length of your trip, this is a great option as it gives you the most flexibility.

Park Hopper Plus

This option has the same benefits as the Park Hopper, PLUS you’ll receive a certain number of visits to a different Disney experience. Experiences currently include Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Oak Trail Golf, Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf (before 4PM), and Winter Summerland Mini Golf.

Link Your Tickets

Regardless of the tickets that you end up purchasing, you are going to want to link them to your “My Disney Experience” account so that you will be able to use Disney’s services and plan your trip. There is both an online website and a mobile phone app that you can use in advance of your visit and while you are at the resort.

Disney Vacations can be expensive, but your Goldgell Getaways travel agent can help you with all of this decision-making to help you get the most bang for your buck!
